Rounds 11 & 12,
MONACO, Monte Carlo
With Formula 3 returning to Monaco for the first time since 1999, nobody really knew what to expect from the new generation. What stood out was Teemu Mottonen throwing away pole position for race 1, and handing the lead and the race to Susanne Maibert, the first woman ever to win a race at Monaco. She also set fastest lap in the process.
To make matters worse, Mottonen did it again and gave the lead away to Ewen Graham. All the Finn could do was hassle Graham into a mistake, which eventually came on lap 7 having just set fastest lap. Graham lost it at Mirabeau, and ploughed into the wall sideways. Mottonen therefore grabbed a lucky win, but the manner in which he crumbled under pressure at both starts are not a great advert for his future career.
